Love yourself.
When you are tired and stressed it can be hard to see the forest for the trees. Little niggles become larger than life and what you would have ignored previously has become the trigger to start world war 3. When this is your life the easiest thing to do is take each day as it comes.
I know that it is easy for someone else to tell you to forget your problems and just move on. And this is especially so when those around you seem to have it all together and you can barely make a Vegemite sandwich without loosing it. So how do they do it?
Firstly take time out. Take the time to re-energise yourself. Whether that be by way of a massage, a walk on the beach, sitting in a park – whatever makes you feel like the best version of yourself. Do that! It doesn’t need to cost you money.
The whole purpose of taking time out is to allow you to focus on the now. When you start to think ahead you can get caught up, overwhelmed. It is important to take your focus back. To concentrate on the now and focus on the day right in front of you and work on getting that right.
You need to be in the right head space to be able to move forward.
SO ARE YOU THERE YET?
Once you feel like you are starting to regain control practice these steps:
- Stop Worrying
Decide to let go of issues and aggravations that have happened. You cannot do anything to change them. Choose to forgive yourself and focus on your future. You can’t change your past but you can work on your future!
- Learn to Love Yourself
You are the best version of you. In the words of Dr Seuss “There is no-one alive who is youer than you”. So love yourself for that! Acknowledge your weaknesses and love your strengths. If you find this difficult each day write down 3 things that you love about yourself – it will feel odd at first but it will get easier and you will be surprised at how much it can fill you up!
- One Day at A Time
Focus on the present. The present is the only point in time that you have control over so don’t worry about what has happened or what may happen. Focus purely on the now.
- Take Control of Your Thinking
One aspect of life that we can control is our thoughts. We can talk ourselves into feeling angry, upset, jealous and we can also talk ourselves into feeling happy, excited, overjoyed. The internal conversations that we have with ourselves each day really control our we are feeling. So next time you are feeling stressed and frustrated think about the conversations you have been having with yourself.
- Take Action and Live
This is the absolute best time in all of history to be alive. So make the most of it. Keep in mind that the more things that you express appreciation for, the more you will start to receive.
As my daughter’s day care teacher once said – if you want people to be kind to you –you need to be kind to them. This includes yourself!
