This weekend I took myself away with 2 other ladies. We spent the time chatting, eating, working, sleeping, walking along the beach and just enjoying the beautiful days we were given.
It was a nice change from the responsibility and hustle and bustle of day to day life. The working, the parenting, the partnering the shopping – they “anything” that you do to just get through each and every day, followed by each and every week.
It can be hard to find the time to actually just stop.
And when you do, you will often find an obstacle as to why you shouldn’t. But when that happens (and it does) we are given the opportunity to choose how we respond. We can react and let it get the better of us or we can take responsibility for what is best for us.
What I discovered this last weekend is that time to separate from being someone to everyone else is super important. It gave me the opportunity to be someone for me. It gave me time to reflect.
This weekend I spent time asking myself:
- What is going well that I want to keep?
- What is not going well that I want to change?
- What is not going well that I want to eliminate?
When you approach everything with these 3 questions the answers become clear and you are left with one choice – step up and take responsibility for how you feel. That is something you can control.
